The school encourages children to explore and develop appropriate social skills.  We firmly believe that every child is entitled to an education in a safe and unthreatening environment and therefore no child has the right to deprive any other child or adult of the ability to learn or the right to feel safe.

Therefore, the school has determined clear guidelines that encourage

  • inclusive play, rather than exclusive play
  • safe and creative play rather than destructive play
  • play in a safe and supervised area rather than ‘out of bounds’
  • taking care of school and other people’s property
  • a cooperative atmosphere rather than a one built on power or might
  • an atmosphere of trust rather than one built on lying
  • an atmosphere of tolerance rather than one of harassment, name calling or insensitivity
  • respect due to parents as well as to staff
  • good manners with the use of words such as please, thank you and I’m sorry.
