Technology is not all about computers - it never has been. Yet students must be prepared to cope with our increasingly complex technological society. This requires the development of new ways of learning, thinking, gathering and retrieving information.

At Massada College we educate students toward being computer-literate individuals, we can prepare students for the decisions they will need to make concerning the use, role and potential of computers.

Massada College has a large and light computing room with 12 computers. Here in Information Technology we:

  • Develop keyboard awareness
  • Promote problem solving
  • Provide children with the opportunities to share ideas, knowledge and skills
  • Provide a range of computer software suitable for a variety of age levels and purposes
  • Develop basic literacy and computer related language
  • Using and managing technology
  • Using desktop publishing and presentation software
  • Using multimedia
  • Use computers as a practical support to classroom curriculum
  • Foster parent awareness and support

Technology contributes to cultural, social, environmental and economic changes. Students need to understand technology, be confident and capable users of a wide range of technological applications and processes and to critically appreciate the consequences of technological innovations.

Technology studies at Massada College emphasizes hands-on experiences in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Children use a wide range of materials, information and systems and work through the process of:

  • Designing
  • Making – producing, building and doing
  • Appraising – reflecting, testing and evaluating
