At the VOA Memorial Kindergarten we allow the children to benefit from this philosophy through their daily curriculum of real-life problem solving among peers, with numerous opportunities for creative thinking and exploration.

The children are encouraged to depict their understanding of life through one of many symbolic languages, including drawing, sculpture, dramatic play, and writing.

The learning is open-ended through projects of investigation into the various subjects that interest our students.

The programme used at the VOA Memorial Kindergarten is based on the Reggio Emilia Philosophy of preschool education. In our daily curriculum we:

  • Encourage real-life problem solving among peers
  • Create numerous opportunities for creative thinking and exploration.
  • Develop a child’s understanding of life through one of many symbolic languages, including drawing, sculpture, dramatic play, and writing.
  • Learn in an open-ended way through projects of investigation.
  • Value the uniqueness of each child and their family

For the Kindergartien Children their programme is board and varied, but one of our outstanding areas of success is transition to the schooling environment.

We place particular emphasis on providing a smooth transition to school reception years for all our kindergarten graduates.
To enhance and help the transition process, our focus for 4 year olds is:

  • Tailoring a developmental curriculum to each individual child.
  • Following this individual attention through to Reception with the aid of Massada College Reception and Year 1 teachers.
  • Literacy and Numeracy programmes based on child’s aptitude.
  • Promoting learning and playing independently as well as together, through our community of teachers, parents, and peers.
  • Student Visitation from the Kindy into Reception as well as Reception/Yr1 students giving presentations to Kindy students.
  • A student-buddy programme with Massada College Seniors (Year 7 students)
